Profantasy Toys

Profantasy had a one week survey sale. You picked the voucher you wanted. The choice was either free shipping or buy 2 and get a 3rd one free. Guess which one I choose. I bought 2 and got a 3rd one free.

I ordered the bits I didn't have any idea that I wanted or thought of buying. I ordered 2 source map sets, Castles! and Temples,Tombs and Catacombs. I also added the 2008 annual. I got my 3 of things I didn't really want.

I downloaded both Castles and Temples.Tombs and Catacombs. I played with them and noticed I had gold. They both have a huge amount of historical and simple to build maps. These maps can be used as good starter mapes and I can add and change them simply for my games.

One problem I had with not having these products is that I didn't know where to start or how. I didn't know where to go. Now I got some direction and a start.

I played with the Annual 2008 and I found there is some cool stuff in there. I made a coat of arms for my traveller charater.. Neat I'm going to learn alot from it.

My Role Playing Gaming Is a Mirror

Yes my gaming is a mirror of the movies I like to watch and how i see my life in my minds eye. Strange statement but I think it's always has been true. Since I first started playing and discovered the idea of licensed products.

I was in high school and discovered Palladium's Robotech Role playing game. That game gained more hours of my time then D&D at the time. We'd strap on our fight planes and played it like it was Top Gun. We even had cool call signs like the movie. We changed the world to emulate us flirting with girls and High School life and our take on the movie.

We soon found Dr. Who by Fasa. We found a way to map a TARDIS. We each had one and for some strange reason the we'd all show up on the same planet. I remember we did multi GM'd stories for that game. Someone would toss out a hook and we'd all land on the same planet in different places and weave the story lines together til the climax. That was my gaming.

I'm older now and I've gown up a bit. My tastes have also matured. My gaming has to advanced. I rewrote the old James Bond movies into a personal campaign long before the release of Casino Royale. My world looks about the same. Dark very dark compared to the late 60's to 90's stuff. I left the formula on the floor somewhere taking what I loved and sprinkling Le'Carre and Ludlum into the mix.

Is it any wonder you can see influences in my samurai games from the movies I love to watch? I love menga and Anime. I loved those old 60's samurai movies. I love the blood splatter and the ppl that lay down and get up and run away. The great sword fights and even the words missing the mouth and the traditions I don't really understand.

Sengoku is just like that. I've made rule adjustments to make it less lethal then the weapon. I use the free healing after every combat rule. Give armour just for wearing clothing. Thugs lay down after 2 levels of damage, Named thugs 4 and major villains surrender.

Amazing no matter how old I get. When I throw something on the table I get players. So it can't be that bad.

Battle at the Cave of the 6 Demon Blades

My 6 Demon Blades Mini Campaign kicked off tonight. I was missing 2 players but I decided to go along with it. Missing was the ninja and the killer samurai. I which left me with my dandy samurai, his retainer and the monk.

The leader of the retinue was able to negotiate the mountian pass to the cave. They climbed to the cliff face where they were able to enter the cave and view the insides. They explored the cave and found the important containers of the 6 demon blades.

The monk was able to cast vision and see the events that had occured. The sacrifice of 2 women that were there to "Do laundry" for the samurai that were present. There hearts riped from there chest and the blood used in some kind of ritual to free the 6 Demon Blades.

The group settled down and camped. The cook (ninja) prepared a meal for the party and they eat and had tea. They set 2 watches for the night and the went to sleep.

In the night the retainer was apporched by a female samurai in armour. He decided to question and challenge her. She refused to back down. Demanding they give their camp to her. He refused and woke the party.

The party now awake and alert. The dandy begins to talk to her. The party notices that 5 samurai are following her. Torches are held high in the night. The dark clouded figures come with the symbol of the 6 demon blades worn like a mon on their chests.

The retainer decided to attack the Air (the woman doing the talking). His quick move wasn't quick enough. Air moved with the speed of air. The blow barely hit her amour and caused no damage. She laughed at his failure.

After the first move was made Smoke attached the monk with a tetsubo of smoke. The monk began casting his spell. The tetsubo hit him in the face and he wore it like a bad suit. losing teeth and breaking a nose.

Metal began a charge at the dandy. The clinking of metal heard has he ran. His attack swing was casual. The dandy believed he could jump over the blade but got caught with the blade leaving his chest wet and slashed. His return blow landed with a metal thud.

First combat fought and first blood drawn.

6 Deamon Blades

I haven't had a chance with work and stuff to circle back to my 6 Deamon Blades game. It went on hiatus last month. We're starting again this weekend. I didn't rework the charatersheets but you know shit happens. Just a quick post so that I don't get totally off base here.

6 Demon Blades

I did character creation last week at page. I had 5 players. We did the Riddle of Steel point based creation from the Compendium book.

The characters came out really cool. I have playing on dandy samurai. he's from a new moneyed family. Trying to prove him self visiting his uncle to make hes own fortune in the world. He's accompanied by his loyal retainer and his family.

I'm a good GameMaster. As such my 3rd player is in love with the retainers daughter. Age of daughter 16 age of player 20 we can all say problem.

Making an appearence to round things out the Jade Monk. A magic weilding Monk with news that the 6 demon blades are lose on the world.

In persuit of the Dandy main character is a Ninja Assasin. With orders to kill him. He joins up with the party to look for opertunity. Not getting one with 2 Sword wielding samurai guards.

I'm really excited to see how this plays out. Good role-play will be had by all.
